i had the pleasure of meeting one of my favorite ladies ever on thursday evening! ariel capital management hosted a wonderful book signing event for the amazing, amy dubois barnett and her book, Get Yours! The Girlfriends's Guide to Having Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More.

i have been a fan of amy's for years... from her days at honey. i remember when i first saw the magazine. i was thrilled that there was finally a publication that not only spoke to me, but also represented me... and just looked good! ever since that first issue, i've quietly dreamed of working at a magazine as dynamic as honey.

back to amy... in her book, amy shows women how to achieve their wildest dreams and more. she reveals the personal experiences and philosophies that impacted her life. the book also features interviews with noted celebrities and thought-provoking quizzes that serve as tools to realizing dreams.

amy is a dynamic woman that has made strides in journalism. after heading honey magazine, amy became managing editor at teen people, making her the first african american woman to head a major mainstream magazine. she is currently the deputy editor-in-chief of harper's bazaar. despite this amazing resume, amy had such a humble, girlfriend spirit. she is just as beautiful inside as she is outside. she continues to inspire ladies ever where to get theirs!!

i got out today and enjoyed the great autumn weather (finally). after checking out what billion dollar babes had to offer, i headed up to clandestine with my little sis...

clandestine industries, the rock star boutique from fall out boy's pete wentz, can go un-noticed if you're not paying attention. the store is located on chicago's northside, near the intersection of newport and sheffield. the frosted windows and doors hide the cool, laidback interior filled with clandestine branded tees, hoodies, and accessories. the store also carries limited edition nikes, toy tokyo products, and skateboard decks. also for sale is one-of-a-kind artwork by travis from gym class heroes. the pieces are actually pretty dope. while my sis shopped, i couldn't resist a game of ms. pac-man at the throwback arcade coffee table. yes! they have arcade games! check them out...

my next stop was over to finally check out a.okay official. if you live in chicago and have never been, you are missing out... and if you come to chicago, don't play yourself by not stopping by. the store is crazy. they have everything from the hottest sneakers, crazy accessories, amazing art, and all kinds of toys and trinkets. i love le sportsac x tokidoki and i think they had every piece in the store. a. okay is a must see... 'nuf said. LOL ;)

what a night! some friends and i decided to take our out of town guest skating and boy was i not prepared. rollerskating is a workout for real!!! it's been more than 10 years since i've been on some skates and my body is hurting. fortunately for me, cameras were not allowed on the rink... however, i was surprised to see a photo of my mother and i (circa 1988) on the wall of fame at the rink. lol i was dressed up as jem for halloween... which got me thinking about all of my favorite cartoons from the 80s. check them out...
