i had the pleasure of meeting one of my favorite ladies ever on thursday evening! ariel capital management hosted a wonderful book signing event for the amazing, amy dubois barnett and her book, Get Yours! The Girlfriends's Guide to Having Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More.
i have been a fan of amy's for years... from her days at honey. i remember when i first saw the magazine. i was thrilled that there was finally a publication that not only spoke to me, but also represented me... and just looked good! ever since that first issue, i've quietly dreamed of working at a magazine as dynamic as honey.
back to amy... in her book, amy shows women how to achieve their wildest dreams and more. she reveals the personal experiences and philosophies that impacted her life. the book also features interviews with noted celebrities and thought-provoking quizzes that serve as tools to realizing dreams.
amy is a dynamic woman that has made strides in journalism. after heading honey magazine, amy became managing editor at teen people, making her the first african american woman to head a major mainstream magazine. she is currently the deputy editor-in-chief of harper's bazaar. despite this amazing resume, amy had such a humble, girlfriend spirit. she is just as beautiful inside as she is outside. she continues to inspire ladies ever where to get theirs!!
