chicago's most fashionable were present for an evening of style courtesy of akira, last night. akira's 4th annual garden of eden fashion show took place at galleria marchetti and featured designs by ben sherman and pf flyers. the ford models walked the runway for a great cause, as proceeds benefited imerman angels, a not-for-profit organization that pairs cancer-fighters with cancer-survivors to help them battle the disease.
although there were some great looks shown, the fashion show was extremely long. most shows last a mere 10-15 minutes (if that), but models walked the runway for an hour (or more). in addition to the runway, there was a performance from an opera singer, accompanied by a violinist, a ballet performance, as well as, a mini concert by an artist whose name i cannot remember. so i guess you can say it was an evening of entertainment.
i must say, the chicago fashion scene is like no other. fashion events in the city bring out all kind of characters but it feels good to see that the industry is growing.
